| Adding Texture to Your Paintings Using Ceramic Stucco & Flexible Modeling Paste |

October 19, 2012 by Michele Theberge 4 Comments

When I first switched over from oils to acrylics years ago – I was always trying to get away from the “plastic-y” look they had.

Then I discovered the array of gels and pastes that could take the standard paint texture from creamy to stiff to sandy to matte.

The two I show you in this video are still in my all-time favorites list.

Hope you enjoy it and let me know your thoughts! Have you used these before? What are your favorite acrylic gels? Any techniques you’d like to share?

This was great! I have been thinking and thinking of what I want to do with a particular painting and now I am going to try the modelling paste.

I love using texture! (But I love you even more!!) I actually have learned how to make my own and it saves a bundle. I used to rely on impasto but it used to cost me so much to do so little. Now I always have a jar of baby powder on stock and it takes me literally 5 minutes to do any quantity. Thank you so much for sharing all this with us and for being so great to watch and learn from you!

Fun idea, Lilian! I haven’t tried that (baby powder for making a texture medium).
